Description
⭕ IMPORTANT! ⭕ PLEASE FOLLOW THE SIMPLE SETUP INSTRUCTIONS, SEE BELOW, OR TIMELOCK WILL NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY AND YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY.
Does your child use their iPod/iPad/iPhone too much? Do you want to limit the time they spend on it?
TimeLock allows parents to set a daily usage time limit on their child’s iPod, iPhone or iPad. It automatically disables the device when that time limit is over and resets the timer every day. Once installed and set up, TimeLock is completely autonomous, which means your child will only be able to use the device for a set time each day without your intervention.
FEATURES:
‣ Set a daily time limit on any iDevice to limit how much time the device can be used each day.
‣ Your child can start and stop the timer at any time during the day so the time limit does not have to be used all at once.
‣ When the timer runs out, popups appear constantly to effectively stop your child using their device.
‣ The timer is reset automatically each day.
PARENTS CAN:
‣ Customise the daily time limit.
‣ Turn off TimeLock e.g. if the device is being used for homework or GPS navigation.
‣ Reset the day's timer if the device is shared between two or more children.
‣ Create a 4 digit passcode to protect the parent options.

Has great potential, but still needs lots of work
My son found a huge flaw just a few days after playing with this. If you go into the settings and wind the date back then the daily time increases. Every time his time is up, he just winds the calendar back and loads himself up with another couple hours of time. If you are still able to use the ipad after the time has expired, then you have not set up the app correctly. You have to go into the settings menu and change the notifications for the TimeLock app. BUT my son just slides up the bottom bar on the ipad, turns off notifications and then turns off the sound and keeps playing. Soooo, I am happy to have my $.99 go toward future development but I wonder if because of the way that Apple has designed their system, if any app will ever truly be able to accomplish this task completely.
Perfect for my 11 and 8 year old
It's the 'working' app I've found that let's me set an amount of time for the whole day and lets the kids pause so they can save their time for later. My kids are old enough that they know how to do work arounds but young enough that they won't buck the system. ;-). I also love that they have to bring the iPod to me to reset each day. It also has a 5 min warning. No more 'let me just finish this.' I'm giving this such a great review despite the work arounds other reviewers have mentioned. The fact is, this app can't work magic! It can't do things that apple won't allow apps to do. While it bothers me that Apple won't allow REAL parent controls, this app does in fact work for me. It works well on my iPod, iPad and iPhone.
I would recommend that the developed add two things. A running talley of hours used and an option to let us add leftover time from the day before if we wanted to. Love this app!
Limiting Time On Computer
Use for my own time management
My husband has the password. I have a daily allotment of time each day. The app is aggravating with the pop ups but that's the point. It's a deterrent. I use it for the same purpose that I use pc internet time blockers like stayfocused and leechblock... Keeps me from wasting too much time on phone. I can still access my today screen minus the pop-ups with the app up to access calendars tasks weather and a few other things I have set up there. Only thing is I wish there was the option to set a recurring reminder when the timer is running because I will sometimes forget to turn it off when I use it on and off throughout the day. Then there is the temptation to just turn of notifications. Set up your notifications correctly by the way or you'll be thinking it doesn't work like some of the reviews.
